The Summer Pressing Kit

Everything you need for The Summer Pressing — the first seasonal practice inside The Slow Practice.

Each kit includes a watercolor paper journal with a linen cover, two skeins of embroidery floss in a summer palette, embroidery needle, mod podge and foam applicators, coffee filters, and a handwritten instruction card with the weekly rhythm and three stitches illustrated.

The practice runs thirteen weeks — from June through early September. Each week, gather something small from where you are. Press it. When it has gone still and flat, tuck it into your book and stitch around it — a line, an outline, a few small marks. Paint, embellish, add other materials as you desire. By the time the air starts to cool, you'll have a soft, hand-held thing that holds a season.
